About the Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is celebrated for its historical significance, architectural ingenuity, and cultural importance. Spanning thousands of miles, it remains a symbol of China’s rich heritage and a testament to human perseverance and innovation.

Who can participate

Anyone with a reasonable level of hiking experience is welcome; however, adequate preparation and training are essential for safety and success. While the following criteria are not exhaustive, these minimum requirements must be met to qualify for participation:

Be over 18 years old
Be willing to participate in practice treks organised by IKCA
Have done some mountain climbing previously, OR taken part in similar challenges locally, OR regularly keep fit by doing some perseverance and strength training.

How much do I need to raise?

You have two fundraising options:

OPTION 1
Raise £2,500 to cover all land expenses in China and purchase your own flight/ticket.

OPTION 2
Raise £1,500 and pay an additional £1,000, plus your own flight/ticket.

We take care of all local travel, food, accommodation, government permits, guides, assistants, etc.

If the minimum fundraising amount seems low – you know your networks and if you can count on them, set a higher target! Don’t worry – our team will guide and support you to help you reach or even overstep your target. Insha’Allah!

All funds raised will go directly to Imran Khan Cancer Appeal to provide cancer treatment for patients in need at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospitals in Lahore and Peshawar.

To make fundraising easier, we recommend setting up a JustGiving page. It’s quick, easy and saves you having to collect wads of cash. Once you’ve got one, all you’ll need to do is forward your JustGiving page link to friends and contacts, and they can donate online, directly to Imran Khan Cancer Appeal. You can also share updates and pictures on JustGiving so everyone who sponsors you can keep track of your progress.
