Dubai Comes Together to Support SKMCH & RC

Atlantis the Palm, situated on one of Dubai’s famous Palm Islands, played host to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre’s (SKMCH&RC) Fundraising Gala Dinner in February 2012. Mr. Imran Khan, Chairman, Board of Governors, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust welcomed nearly 1,000 guests to the event, which included the who’s who of the Dubai social scene and Pakistani and Indian celebrities from different walks of life, who all came together and generously raised $500,000 towards the purchase of a new MRI machine for the Hospital.

The programme included a live auction, raffle and performance by Pakistani band, Strings. Mr. Imran Khan spoke to the audience about SKMCH&RC and emphasised that capacity building had now become the main focus of the organization with expansion projects taking place in Lahore, and new facilities planned in Peshawar and Karachi.

A number of cricket and showbiz personalities attended the event. They included cricketers Waqar Younis, Mudassar Nazar, and Sunil Gavaskar, stars Pooja Bedi and Fakhar-e-Alam, Aamina Sheikh and Adnan Siddiqi from the Pakistani drama Maat, and members from the cast of the hit Pakistani drama series, Humsafar, including actors Behroz Sabzwari, Fawad Khan, and Mahira Khan as well as the series director, Sarmad Khoosat.
