A hospital schooling programme for child patients.

At Shaukat Khanum hospitals, we take extra care with our child patients, because battling cancer is no easy feat, even for adults.

Most of our child patients are forced to drop out of school while undergoing prolonged treatment. For those who never went to school to begin with, education is just another far-off dream. Understandably, all of this takes a huge toll on the morale of patients, and many of them suffer a significant loss of confidence.

At Shaukat Khanum Hospitals, we run a Hospital Schooling Program, which enables child patients to carry on learning while they receive treatment. In cases where a child never went to school to begin with, the programme provides him/her with the opportunity to receive an education for the first time.

Our hospital Schooling Program is just one of the ways we boost the morale and self-esteem of child patients, both of which are vital for recovery. We also have play therapists who tackle the psychological effects of undergoing treatment, which can cause children a great deal of pain and discomfort.

Our Schooling Program also gives children the confidence to pursue their studies after recovery, allowing them to adapt to normal life faster.

Come end of term, we hold graduation ceremonies for our paediatric patients who’ve completed the programme, because their efforts, achievements and strength of spirit deserves celebrating!

Without your help, none of this would be possible. Find out how you can do more by sponsoring the treatment of a child patient here.
