IKCA Supporters Going the Extra Mile
Team IKCA does it again! Thirty determined volunteers scaled mountains to raise funds for our needy patients. Together, they raised a total of £8,090!
Our Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge (Y3P) is one of our toughest local challenges. The event, which took place on Saturday, 17th August is held annually by Imran Khan Cancer Appeal to raise critical funds for the treatment of needy cancer patients in Pakistan.
Participants trek three of the highest peaks in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in one day. Occasionally, volunteers drop out because the course is so difficult, but this year we’re thrilled to report that everyone completed it. All of the participants gave us positive feedback, with some already committing to be back next year.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to each of the thirty volunteers and congratulate them on their amazing accomplishment. Together, they raised £8,090 so far, and still counting…
Renowned for its difficulty, Y3P covers 25 miles and scales three of the highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales: Pen-y-ghent (694m), Whernside (736m), and Ingleborough (723m). Completing this challenge in less than 12 hours is an extraordinary feat, reflecting the participants’ commitment and stamina. To help keep energy levels and motivation up, our water station served refreshments, including tea, coffee, fruit and Chicken Masala, all of which were a big hit with the volunteers.
“We are immensely proud of every participant who took on this formidable challenge,” said Shafiq Rafiq, Events Coordinator for the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal. “Their dedication and perseverance are a true testament to the power of collective action in the fight against cancer. The funds raised through this event will go directly towards providing free cancer care to those in need at Shaukat Khanum Hospitals.”
