Meet our Patients: Aqib’s Story

Little Aqib is battling Leukaemia. The estimated cost of his treatment is £10,000. Can you give him a hand this Ramadan?

Aqib is just 3 years old. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in November 2022. He’s been receiving chemotherapy since, and his treatment is expected to last three years.

Aqib and his family are from Bara, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His mother was devastated when he was diagnosed with cancer. “When my son was diagnosed, I cried a lot, but he would also then become upset,” she said. “So, he became the reason I forced my tears to stop. I am hopeful for his recovery because hopelessness is a sin.”

Aqib’s parents couldn’t afford the high cost of his treatment. “My husband earns a humble income as a teacher,” said Aqib’s mother, “and so we were so relieved that the hospital would provide free treatment to my son.”

Your Zakat to date has enabled us to provide free treatment to children like Aqib. Without it, he wouldn’t have a fair chance against cancer. This Ramadan, we rely on your Zakat just as our patients rely on us.

“I am so grateful to the people who give Zakat and donations,” said Aqib’s mother, “so children like mine can get hope for a life after cancer.”

Please give your Zakat through Imran Khan Cancer Appeal this Ramadan and give children like Aqib a fair chance at recovery.
