Meet our Supporters: Amreen Rehman

‘It was the first time stepping out of my comfort zone since the passing of my Dad so that in itself, rather than the distance covered, was the biggest challenge for me.’

In September 2022, Amreen lost her father to cancer. But true to her giving nature, she turned her grief into something positive. She and her cousin joined our London Bridge Family Walk in aid of needy cancer patients in Pakistan. For Amreen, taking part meant so much on so many levels. Here she tells us more about the day in her own words.

“In September this year, I sadly lost my Dad to cancer. As a family, we have always supported the work undertaken by IKCA, and when my cousin told me that she had registered to do the walk in my Dad's name I decided to do the same.

“It was the first time stepping out of my comfort zone since the passing of my Dad so that in itself, rather than the distance covered, was the biggest challenge for me.

“Alhamdullilah, the day was wonderful. Walking on a cold November day, taking in the iconic sites of London with a group of amazing people and knowing that all of our efforts were towards a great cause was such a special experience. I will definitely be taking part in more challenges.”

Thank you, Amreen for your company, your support and for choosing us to honour the memory of your father. We know this is a difficult time for your family. We wish you all strength and patience and blessings for the grief you are bearing. May Allah (SWT) embrace your father with His mercy. Ameen.
