Meet Our Supporters: Halimah and Mustafa Akram

Siblings, Halimah and Mustafa are just 14- and 12-year-olds respectively, but they’ve raised £2,472, overshooting their original fundraising target by almost £1,500! They planned various activities over their summer holidays, including a bake sale. Unfortunately, these had to be cancelled because of the riots. But, this did not stop them!

We caught up with Halimah and Mustafa to learn more about these remarkable kids.

Thanks for chatting to us today. Tell us a little about yourselves and what motivated you to spend your holidays raising funds to assist our patients?

Halimah: My brother, Mustafa and I attend St Joseph’s College Dumfries in Scotland. We wanted to run this fundraiser to honour the value of charity in Islam.

That’s wonderful, Masha’Allah. So, what activities did you end up doing to raise the money?

Mustafa: We raised the money mainly by approaching family and friends directly or through social media. Our other planned activities like bake sales could not be carried out due to the riots in the UK.

You didn’t let that get in your way though. Well done! How did you find the experience?

Mustafa: It was our first time running a fundraiser and we really enjoyed the experience. We will definitely plan another fundraiser in the future during our next school holidays.

We look forward to that. Do you have a message for our patients and staff members?

Halimah: We hope the patients get healthy soon and live long and happy lives. Mustafa and I appreciate the medical and non-medical staff and all the hard work they do.

We will definitely pass your kind words on. Thank you again, Halima and Mustafa. May Allah (SWT) bless and reward you.

We’re so impressed by Halimah and Mustafa and want to express our deep gratitude for their commitment to helping us save lives in Pakistan.
