Meet Our Supporters: Muttee Mirza

‘The primary message of this game was clear: we stand with the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal in their fight against cancer, and we are committed to raising awareness […] for their admirable work.’

Muttee Mirza is a remarkable young man. He organised a 40-overs friendly cricket match to raise funds for our needy patients. Even though it was his first time doing something like this, he raised over £200. Muttee explained his motivation and told us about the exciting day in his own words.

“Today’s game was a remarkable experience, even though we found ourselves on the losing side. After winning the toss, we opted to bowl first in a reduced format of 35 overs due to fading light. In the initial 17 overs, we managed to contain the opposition to around 80 runs with 4 wickets down. However, the opponents proved formidable, setting a challenging target of 255. Unfortunately, our team struggled against their strong bowling attack and were dismissed for just 43 runs. It was disheartening to see our batting falter, but the most important aspect was playing for a cause close to our hearts.

“Despite the defeat, there were many positive takeaways from our first match. The primary message of this game was clear: we stand with the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA) in their fight against cancer, and we are committed to raising awareness and offering support to their admirable work.

“I would like to extend a massive thank you to IKCA for your invaluable help in organising this fantastic event. Both teams thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and we were honoured to contribute to spreading the message of cancer awareness on behalf of the IKCA.

“Insha’Allah, we hope to organise more matches for this cause in the future.”

We love that Muttee is already thinking about doing similar fundraising events in the future. Thank you to Muttee and everyone who participated in this friendly cricket match.
