Meet Our Supporters: Rubina Khan and Pak UK Fusion Society

When you talk to Rubina Khan, you quickly realise that her passion for helping others isn’t just a side project; it’s a way of life. A long-time supporter of Imran Khan Cancer Appeal, Rubina, along with Pak UK Fusion Society, has been rallying her community to help cancer patients in Pakistan get the treatment they need. And she’s done it again! Recently, Pak UK Fusion Society hosted another successful fundraiser.

We sat down with Rubina to hear more about her journey, what drives her, and why she supports us.

Rubina, it’s great to speak with you again. You’ve been supporting IKCA for years. Tell us, what keeps you going?

“Thank you! Honestly, the cause speaks for itself. Cancer doesn’t discriminate—it can affect anyone, anywhere. Everyone I know will have known someone affected by cancer. I am motivated by charity work in general, but knowing that my efforts help provide free treatment to those who would otherwise have no chance is a strong source of inspiration to keep going and continue supporting this cause. I truly believe that when we come together as a community, we can create something powerful.”

Your latest fundraiser was another big success! Tell us more about it.

“Yes, Alhamdulillah, the recent fundraising event was nothing short of incredible! What made it truly special was the unity, generosity, and shared purpose that brought everyone together. From community leaders and business figures to families and volunteers, the room was filled with a collective spirit of compassion and commitment to a vital cause.”

“The collaboration between PAK UK, Feedo Needo, UKCAB, and Scholars School System exemplified the power of working together for a greater good. Powerful speeches, moving personal stories, and the overwhelming response from donors reminded us all of what can be achieved when people come together for a good cause.”

“Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the funds raised will have a lasting impact—and this evening will be remembered as a shining example of our Birmingham community in action. It was incredible!”

What was the highlight of the night for you?

“That’s a tough one! There were so many memorable moments. Hearing from Hareem Farooq, one of my favourite actors and Aasim Yussuf, the Chief Medical Officer was inspiring. They shed light on the urgent need for accessible cancer treatment, and how critical donations are to keep the hospitals going. It was important for the guests attending to be able to hear directly from the CMO about the impact of their donations.”

“Another highlight was coming together once more with other inspirational organisations. Pak UK is proud to have partnered with Feedo Needo, UKCAB, and Scholars School System once more to organise a successful fundraising dinner. This collaboration reflects the power of partnership working—bringing together organisations with shared values to make a meaningful impact. By combining our efforts, resources, and networks, we were able to create an event that not only raised vital funds but also strengthened community bonds, here in Birmingham.”

How much did you raise?

“I was waiting for you to ask me that. We raised a whopping £140,600 in just one night! This was all down to the generosity of all the incredible people in the room. Thanks to the donors, we have made a life-changing difference to those who need it the most.”

Wow! Congratulations. Thank you. Any final message for our supporters?

“Never underestimate the power of your support. Whether you donate, volunteer, or simply spread the word, every action makes a difference. Without your support, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do to help others. And to those battling cancer—know that you are not alone. There’s a whole community behind you, ready to fight for you.”

Rubina’s dedication is nothing short of inspiring. Her work is proof that when we come together, we can change lives. If her story has inspired you, why not get involved? Whether through fundraising, volunteering, or donating, every little effort helps. Together, we can continue to provide life-saving treatment to those in need.
