Meet our supporters: Saba

'Overall, it was a beautiful life-changing experience! May Allah (SWT) accept it from us all and may He put barakah in every penny raised Ameen.'

The 2022 Pakistan Challenge was life-changing for our participants as well as the patients who are receiving free cancer treatment as a result of their efforts. We caught up with Saba, who had a lot to say about the experience.

Saba, thank you for your participation in the challenge. How do you feel about it?

"It was an amazing experience. This encompassed everything from seeing the breath-taking beauty that Pakistan had to offer, to the actual hike -which tested our mental and physical capabilities- the camping, and the company, Alhamdulillah."

…And all for a cause that’s lifesaving for people in need.

"Absolutely. Every moment of the trip I reminded myself of why I was there. That every penny is important, because it changes a person’s life…actually, literally! Because it provides someone with lifesaving treatment, Alhamdullilah.

"Most importantly of all is that our efforts were for the sake of Allah (SWT). I was humbled to remember how much we have and how lucky we are. I’m so grateful to Allah (SWT) for allowing me the opportunity to be part of this experience that touches the heart and changes you as a person forever."

It must have meant a great deal then to visit the hospital in the end and meet the patients who benefit from the work that you and your team supported.

"This was the best part for me, as it showed the reality of cancer in Pakistan. People do not have access to free health care like in the UK. That’s why the money raised is so important!"

Aside from the hospital visit then, what one thing made this trip for you?

"The people made the trip! The guides were amazing - they thought of everything and the food they cooked for us was amazing! Also, the support I got from IKCA was fantastic - especially brother Shafiq. My fellow hiking friends were so encouraging and inspiring.

"Overall, it was a beautiful life-changing experience! May Allah (SWT) accept it from us all and may He put barakah in every penny raised Ameen."

A big thank you to Saba and all of our Pakistan 2022 Challenge participants. May you be rewarded for your efforts and contribution.
