Mr Pakistan Conquers the National Three Peaks

“On Sat 17th Aug 2013 at 8.30am, we set off from Birmingham for the 7 hour drive to Fort William to climb the first of the 3 mountains – 1,344m high Ben Nevis. We reached the Glen Nevis visitor centre at 3.30pm and immediately prepared for the 5pm start of the 14.83 km route 2 hours 36 minutes after starting, we reached the summit and stayed for only 7 minutes before descending and our 6 hour journey to the second mountain in ‘The Lake District’ had begun.

We tried to get some sleep on the trip from Scotland to ‘The Lakes’ but either due to the cramped condition in the van or the tiredness we couldn’t. The winding lanes near Wasdale Head actually made me travel sick and we had to stop for a few minutes. At 3.30am we reached the car-park and getting out of the vehicle was difficult. I was weak, unwell and my legs were stiff. It took me 33 minutes before I set off, in darkness, for the 978m ascent of Scafell Pike along the 10.6km route. This was the hardest part of the challenge and our pace was very slow. It was dark, raining and I was struggling. We got lost twice. The summit was reached in 2hrs 31mins and we stayed for only 1 minute for 1 photo each as it was really cold and really windy. The rain continued and we reached the car park 4hrs 10mins after leaving.

The drive to Mount Snowdon took 5 hours and I managed to sleep for a few hours. We started our last climb at 1.10pm and had 3hrs 50mins to complete our last mountain and get back to the car park before the 24 hrs. The summit is 1085m high and we reached it in 1hr 52mins. Stayed for 4 mins then descended again as time was short. We reached the car park with 12 minutes to spare therefore completing the 24hr challenge in 23hrs 48mins and congratulated each other. I would like to thank everyone who supported me with Du’as and donations. My page is still open and you can get involved and support my challenge at: http://www.justgiving.com/MrPakistan786
