Meet our Supporters: Dr Hina Wahid

‘My name’s Hina and I’ve recently started cycling. When I saw this bike challenge come up, to cycle from London to Brighton, I thought this would be great to combine with raising money for IKCA.’

Dr Hina Wahid is one of our long-time supporters. On 11 September 2022, Dr Hina cycled from London to Brighton to raise funds for cancer patients in need. Here’s what she had to say about the experience…

Why did you choose Imran Khan Cancer Appeal?

“I visited the hospital in Lahore many years ago and saw first-hand how the hospital helps so many people. It’s such a worthy cause to support and I’m happy that I could play my small part in supporting IKCA.”

You haven’t been cycling for very long.  Weren’t you daunted by the long journey?

“It’s true. It was my first time cycling 55 miles by myself. But the whole ride was as exciting as it was challenging, in equal measures! I was initially unsure of what I had signed up for but knew once I started fundraising, there was no turning back!”

How much were you able to raise?

“I’m blessed with a generous family and friends who supported my cause wholeheartedly. They helped me raise £1500 in just one week!”

That’s amazing! It helps to have people backing you when you’re about to embark on such a massive endeavour.

“Absolutely. My husband is my support. Without him, this wouldn’t have been possible. He sorted out all the logistics. So, all I had to do was sit on my bike and peddle!!”

Hina’s JustGiving Page is still active and receiving donations. Show your support and donate to IKCA by visiting it.
