“Chicken tikka, Chicken curry, Daal puri and cupcakes. We made 150 of these in 8 hours straight! ”
On the 30th November 2013, John Leggott College hosted a Christmas fair, where Faryal Amir and her friends held a charity stall to fundraise for Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA). They called it ‘WADDA DHABA’, and it proved to be the most popular stall at the fair. Here’s what Faryal had to say about the day.
“Our bestselling stall wasn’t only popular amongst Asians but British people as well. We sold Pakoras, Samosas, Chicken tikka, Chicken curry, Daal puri and cupcakes. We made 150 of these in 8 hours straight! A bit of sweetness to wash down the spice!
I don’t know where the idea to fundraise first came from, perhaps it was the name ‘Imran Khan’. But we’re so happy we took part in this. Of course, it wouldn’t have been possible without help from out professional cooks –none other than our mothers! A big thank you to them. Also, thank you to our college and my colleagues Haani, Rija and Nahian who helped make the event successful. It was wicked and we are looking forward to going through the whole process again (and again!).”
