“This volunteer program gives the patients the social encouragement they require to stay strong throughout their journey at the Hospital.”
Hadia Butt is a member of the Shaukat Khanum Tiger’s Club –a youth club in Pakistan, which organises awareness-raising activities and allows students to volunteer at Shaukat Khanum (SKMCH) hospital. Hadia spent one week on the volunteer program at SKMCH Lahore. At the pediatric ward, where she helped out, she learnt a great deal from the patients she made friends with.
“While interacting with the patients I realized how, over a period of time, we developed something in common: happiness. Seeing the patients happy made me happy. Paediatric cancer patients at SKMCH are not only courageous but also enthusiastic and lively which eventually provided me with motivation and determination to face challenges in life. I witnessed their ability to endure every difficulty with patience and watched their bravery soar.
“SKMCH is doing an incredible job by treating cancer patients with utmost dedication. I believe this volunteer program is a commendable initiative by the Hospital, since it gives the patients the social encouragement they require to stay strong throughout their journey at the Hospital.”
